Staffordshire to celebrate International Volunteer Day

People from across the county are being invited to find out more about the hundreds of volunteering opportunities helping to make a difference in local communities.

Staffordshire has thousands of volunteers from all backgrounds and walks of life, giving up their time and energy helping to make Staffordshire a great place to live.

International Volunteer Day today (5 December) is the chance to recognise the contributions volunteers make and highlight the great work they do.  This year’s celebrations are focusing on how volunteers can help build resilient communities

'Tis the Season’….. Can you help our Fundraising Team!

With Christmas starting to edge closer now…can you spare sometime to help our busy Fundraising teams? Could you help us get cash donations back to the Hospice? Our collecting box agents visit local businesses who have a counter collection box in their shop, pub or business and leave them with a new box to fill…or help with our events. Please call to hear more about these roles.

Volunteer Drivers needed for East Staffordshire Voluntary Car Scheme

Volunteers have the opportunity to join a community car scheme covering East Staffordshire, where volunteer drivers provide car services to members of their community who have difficulty in accessing or using either their own vehicle or public transport to travel to essential services, such as health appointments, shopping or even visiting friends.

They can play a key role in rural areas where public transport services are limited.

Volunteers needed for Uttoxeter’s first community-led Eco Centre and Recycling Facility

Following months of fundraising, consultation and planning, The Globe Foundation are pleased to announce that they will be shortly starting work on site at their new location (on land next to the Strawberry Garden Centre, Bramshall Road) to create Uttoxeter’s first community-led Eco Centre and Recycling Facility. Unite against dementia and become an Alzheimer’s Society volunteer

Let's take on dementia together.

Dementia adviser volunteers play a key role in supporting dementia advisers to provide an effective information, support, and signposting service. As a volunteer you would be making telephone calls to people with dementia and carers who have been referred into the dementia adviser service, and there may also be opportunity to meet people to support them in accessing services.

Making a difference in your local community

Come and join our inspiring Community Aiders Team helping with patients in their homes. A listening ear, a lending hand to their worries or concerns, or maybe a hand with some shopping or gardening, or perhaps a hand massage to help with relaxation. Full training will be given and a volunteer will be matched with a specific patient. Please call to hear more about these roles.
