  • Painting & Drawing - Friday 3rd June, 13:00 - 15:00
  • Fun Floristry - Saturday 4th June, 10:00 - 12:00
  • Sign Language - Saturday 11th June, 14:00 - 16:00

Join the Staffordshire Neurological Alliance for a workshop on Patient Involvement in Neurological Services.

The Prince's Trust: New Fairbridge Programme Starting in April 2016 (Stoke-on-Trent)

The Prince's Trust have a fantastic Fairbridge programme starting in April with good progression routes. This is a NEW and FREE programme in the Stoke-on-Trent area which gives you a fantastic opportunity to work in a challenging and new environment. If you are aged 16-25 and unemployed or struggling with education you could join the Fairbridge programme.

Volunteer Management Workshop (Venue: Lichfield)

The workshop covers the following topics:-

  • An opportunity to network with Volunteer Managers/Co-ordinators to share good practice
  • Find out how to develop good volunteering opportunities for your organisation to enable you to deliver and enhance your service
  • What is a volunteer role description and how to write effective role descriptions?
  • Information about ‘Investing in Volunteers Accreditation’
  • Planning future support and the development of a support group/network for Volunteer Managers/Co-ordinators in Lichfield

Working with Women and High-Risk Offenders

The session aims to give a brief factual overview of prison; and how it works providing a basic understanding of the issues facing people as they enter the community from prison. The workshop provides a model of safe practices for volunteers to protect them, their clients and the projects of work within, alongside a basic overview of the issues related to working with released prisoners, specifically covering:

  • Prisons and the experience of those leaving custody

  • Probabtion and supervision

Staffordshire North & Stoke-on-Trent Citizens Advice Bureaux Training Needs Survey

Announcement from Staffordshire North & Stoke-on-Trent Citizens Advice Bureaux:-

Our trainers, Sarah and Tina, are currently planning the next Advice House training brochure but we are awaiting decisions about continuation funding so are unable to offer more than 12 sessions in the period April – July 2016 at the moment.

Befriending Networks Launches New Online Training Programme

Announcement from Befriending Network:-

'From April 2016, Befriending Networks will be offering an Online Training version of its Vital Skills in Befriending course for coordinators of befriending services.

This approach will enable befriending organisations across the UK, even in more remote areas, to access training and expert guidance on all aspects of good practice.

Training will involve a combination of self-study and contact sessions conducted via videoconference, with programmes running regularly throughout the year.
