Benefits after a death - bite size

Monday 6th March 2017, 2pm-3.30pm

This session is suitable for social workers and support workers who work with the bereaved.  We will look at what a widow, widower or bereaved family member needs to do following the death of a loved one and entitlements to social funeral payments and bereavement benefits.

DBS (Disclosure and Barrng Service) Workshop

Are you aware of Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) guidelines? Is your organiaiton complying with the rules? This two hour workshop will guide you through the process and advise on how to ensure that you are staying wthin the law.

The aims of the session are to:

  • To understand your responsibilities with regards to DBS

  • To reconise the circumstances that qualify for an eligible check

Writing Good Funding Applications

This session is for people representing community group or voluntary organisation committees in Lichfield and District who want to make an impact with their funding applications. Suitable for people with little or no experience or those with some experience who need a refresher.

An overall comprehensive guide to constructing good funding applications, including:

An introductory session for those who look after finances.  This workshop will cover the basics to enable you to manage your money more effectively and include:

  • Basic book keeping

  • Cash flow

  • Budgeting

  • Forecasting

  • Accounting for what you spend

DLA to PIP - bite size

Wednesday 1st March 2017, 2pm-3.30pm

With most people claiming DLA due to be ‘invited’ to claim PIP instead, this course looks at the similarities and differences between the two benefits, when and how the change-over happens and the options for a claimant unhappy with their PIP award.

Advice House Benefit Training - Tax Credits level 2

The introduction of Universal Credit will mean that people who are transferring from Tax Credits to Universal Credit part way through a tax year may receive a demand for repayment of a Tax Credit overpayment. This session will cover dealing with Tax Credit overpayments and how to dispute or appeal Tax Credit decisions.

 

Let’s Work Together: Be Safe, Feel Secure

Delivered by Staffordshire Police, this short workshop will enable anyone who works in communities support those who are at risk of crime.  This session will look at basic knowledge of anti-social behaviour, crime reduction, bogus callers and will enable you to provide reassurance to those you work with.

Let’s Work Together aims to bring all agencies together to help people live healthy, safe and independent lives by giving the tolls, training and skills to become the “eyes and ears” for partner organisations, identifying risks or referring to services.
