Support Staffordshire: A new era

Support Staffordshire formally merged into a single organisation, operating across the whole county in January this year and we have been busy reorganising ourselves ready to offer the Right Support to Staffordshire’s diverse and vibrant voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector. I am delighted to introduce our Operations Managers with over 30 years’ experience of supporting the VCSE sector locally, Sandra Payne heads up our Operations across Tamworth, Lichfield, East Staffordshire and Cannock; Jill Norman across Stafford, Staffordshire Moorlands and Newcastle.

Volunteering for All Service

Support Staffordshire is delighted to announce it has secured funding from East Staffordshire CCG to expand its Volunteering for All programmes.

We already offer a service focussed on volunteering as a means of overcoming barriers in employability and skills. We are now proud to expand this service to focus on overcoming mental health and physical disability barriers to volunteering.

Enterprise and Skills

We are delighted to report that the sector elected Jill Norman, Operations Manager North and our strategic lead for Enterprise and Skills to be the Voluntary and Community Sector Representative on the Stoke and Staffordshire LEP committee for European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF). Jill received the overwhelming support of the sector with 84% of the vote.

Charter for Collaboration

Working in partnership has been such a mantra in recent years that it can feel old hat and increasingly a little meaning less. At the same time, many national funders and central government investment in the sector is channelled in such a way that it favours single large companies rather than small local providers and it often drives a competitive wedge between organisations that might otherwise work closely together for a common good.
