Safeguarding for Managers

Who should attend:

This course is aimed at safeguarding leads or managers of staff or volunteers who work with adults at risk.

Overview:

The aim of this half day session is to teach awareness of safeguarding responsibilities including:

  • How to identify those at risk

  • The principles of The Care Act 2010 and other relevant legislation

  • Principles of information sharing

  • The Mental Capacity Act

Support and Supervision of Staff

Who should attend:

This course is aimed at those who are new to supporting or supervising staff or who would like to refresh their skills.

Overview:

Effective support and supervision of staff involves using many skills. This course aims to equip new and existing line managers with all the tools they need. The course will cover the role of supervising, holding one to one meetings including appraisals, how to listen well to staff and provide feedback, how to motivate and dealing with poor performance.

Safer Recruitment

Whether you are employing staff or recruiting volunteers, you need to be confident that those who are working with adults at risk or children are suitable.  Safeguarding is a big topic and involves more than just doing a DBS so in this article we examine some of the steps you can take to protect those most vulnerable.

Plan ahead

Writing a good job or role description is crucial to enable you to match applicants well against set criteria.  All tasks should be clearly written so that it comes as no surprise to an individual when they take up a position.

Victims Champion recognised with Lifetime Achievement Award

This week we were able to catch up with Sonia Evans from Victim Support who won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the recent Stafford and District Volunteer Star Awards organised by Support Staffordshire.  Sonia wasn’t able to receive her award on the night so we arranged for Lin Carter, Director of LSC Nursing and Care Services the main event sponsor and award sponsor, to present the award to Sonia at the LSC offices in Marston Road, Stafford.
