West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit offering FREE Bid Writing Course

West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit are offering free places on a bid writing course, which is aimed at charities and community groups. The course will help you to identify opportunities while providing advice on writing successful applications and exploring the common mistakes made by applicants. The sessions will provide delegates with an insight into the processes of grant makers to understand how grant applications are assessed and improve their chances of success.

The day-long courses will be held in Birmingham city centre, and the dates are :

East Staffordshire Voluntary Car Scheme

East Staffordshire Voluntary Car Scheme provides a service to help the elderly and those living in East Staffordshire who are unable to use public transport to make those essential journeys.

Volunteer drivers, using their own cars, offer a door to door service and will wait up to 90 minutes for the return journey.

The scheme can be used for the following:

  • Hospital, doctors or dentist appointments.
  • Hospital patient visiting.
  • Social visits.
  • Collection of prescriptions.
  • Shopping trips.

The following fees apply:

Let's Work Together - Falls, Smoking, Weight Management, Dementia Friends and Carers

Everyone Health will be enabling people to spot the signs of people at risk of falling, obesity, smoking, loneliness and how to access a service that can help people live healthy, safe and independent lives.

The session will also include a Dementia Friends session where you can learn more about dementia and how you can help to create dementia friendly communities.

Opening of Borderland Voices new offices

All friends and supporters of Borderland Voices are invited to join them for the official opening of their new premises at Bank House in Leek on Tuesday 29th May from12 noon to 1.30 pm

Light refreshments will be available and a chance to admire recent artwork before Councillor Margaret Lovatt performs the official opening at 1.00 pm.

Are you Ready for GDPR?

As many of you will be aware new data protection laws are coming with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) taking effect from 25 May 2018.

Your organisation should already be compliant with the existing Data Protection Act 1998 legislation and the GDPR builds on this.  Many of you will have attended the information sessions delivered by The Community Foundation earlier on this year that provided useful guidance on preparing for GDPR
