Newcastle branch of the Parkinson’s Group

A lively group of people affected by Parkinson’s Disease, both those with the condition and those caring for others with it, meets every Wednesday morning at Red Street Community Centre from 10.00am to 1.00pm. It’s a great chance to meet other people who face similar health issues and understand the challenges. Not only does the group enjoy a morning of activities at the community centre every week, there is also a day trip organised once a month. In September the trip was to Southport for the day. It is an open group and anyone can drop in to take part.

Burton Hospitals and Derby Teaching Hospitals

Please find below a link to the latest edition of the newsletter focused on the proposed merger between Burton Hospitals and Derby Teaching Hospitals. In this issue, nurses and midwives from both of our Trusts joined together for the first time to get a real taste of how bringing the best together will benefit both patients and staff.

Elections for new North Staffs and Stoke MCP Alliance Board

Last month we invited nominations for voluntary sector representatives to this new health body in North Staffordshire which has been set up to steer and plan for the development of a North Staffordshire Multi-specialty Community Provider (MCP) model. Two nominations were received for the two places so no election was required. Your representatives are: for the Moorlands, Jill Norman of Support Staffordshire and for Newcastle-under-Lyme, Melanie Dunn of Staffordshire Housing Group. (Copies of the nomination forms attached for further information.).
