Active Signposting in Cannock libraries

The libraries service across Cannock are trialling out an ‘active signposting’ project.

Active signposting is a process through which people are directed towards support available in their community to help with needs such as befriending, being more active, socialising in general etc.

Libraries already do a lot of excellent signposting, and there is opportunity to do more of this to better support local people.

Library staff will be able to call residents and have a chat about what they would like to do and where they can access support in their local area.

AEDdonate - Staffordshire1000 campaign

AEDdonate  are in the process of launching a new ambitious local campaign called Staffordshire1000 on 1/5/19 in Staffordshire, which coincides with Staffordshire Day.

The campaign is to boost the number of community access defibrillators in Staffordshire and increase community awareness of the locations and knowledge of what to do in a cardiac arrest emergency. Aspirationally we would like to get an additional 1000 defibs installed in the communities of Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent, and support from Support Staffordshire Members would be hugely beneficial in our goal.

Residents can access a range of services under one roof – ranging from money advice and mental health support to help with finding volunteering and employment opportunities – from 10am to 4pm during the week.

New plans have been unveiled to convert an empty Lichfield pub into flats and a community facility.

The Anchor at Streethay has been boarded up since January 2015.

There have been plans to demolish the building and create new residential accommodation previously, but the new proposals will see parts of the existing building retained.
