Stafford Funding Fair

This Funding Fair is an opportunity to meet with funders, consider a range of funding you may not have previously considered, gain an insight into a funder’s way of thinking and discuss your group or organisation’s funding needs.

The event is FREE to any charity or voluntary/community group operating in Staffordshire.

Refreshments will be provided.

Spaces are limited to two per organisation. If you require more, please contact matthew@staffscvys.org.uk to see if this is possible.

Lichfield Refugee Aid - General Meeting

The next LRA meeting is on Wednesday, 20th March 2019 at 7:30 pm

The Agenda will include:

  • Feedback from City of Sanctuary meeting (2nd March)
  • Feedback from Stafford SWR meeting (25th February)
  • Plan events for Refugee week – end of June
  • Syrian family support/mentoring activities e.g. conversation practice, shopping trips

Burton Bowel Cancer Support Group Launches

Burton Bowel Cancer Support Group has recently formed and is offering sessions on the second Monday of the month at Burton Library, 6:30 - 8:30pm.

The group's mission is to help to come to terms with the impact of the diagnosis and treatment, give quality information and signpost, whilst giving the opportunity to meet new people who are, or have been, in a similar situation.

Social Groups and Activities from Burton & Uttoxeter Live at Home Scheme

Attached is the Spring newsletter from Burton & Uttoxeter Live at Home Scheme. 

It gives details of all of their activities that take place at various locations across Burton, up until the end of May 2019.  Their activities include Arts and Crafts, Knit and Natter groups, Coffee & Whatever sessions and RelaxAcise classes.

They plan on starting sessions in Uttoxeter from April 2019.

Together We're Better Local Representatives workshop

Together We’re Better, the partnership of NHS, local government, voluntary and community sector organisations that is leading on the transformation of health and social care services in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent is inviting local people to join its Local Representatives group.

This group is comprised of volunteer patient and community representatives who are passionate about public participation and want to help shape health and care services in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

Lichfield Emergency Night Shelter

The Lichfield Emergency Night Shelter went 'live' on Saturday 2nd February and is running every day until the end of March 2019, and is for people who are sleeping rough in Lichfield.

The first meeting to discuss the Night Shelter was held in mid-December. Since then, 5 church venues were secured enabling them to operate 7 nights per week, 4 staff have been employed in various roles,  and over 110 people have signed up as volunteers. During the training week in January, 150 potential volunteers attended.

Safe & Sound event for Over 60's in Tamworth

Places are now available to book for the Safe and Sound Event at Sacred Heart Church in Tamworth. Early booking is advised as the places are limited. Please see the poster for details. This event is aimed at the over 60's and provides advice and training on wellbring, scam awareness, technology, using a defibrillator, fire safety and the opportunity to be trained to become a Dementia Friend.

Organised by Staffordshire Fire & Rescue and supported by Tamworth Borough Council.

Hate Crime Awareness

This training is funded by Staffordshire County Council. To access this session for FREE you must be a member of Support Staffordshire or Staffordshire Council of Voluntary Youth Services. Support Staffordshire reserves the right to charge you for your booking if you are not a member.

**Members failure to attend a FREE course without prior cancellation will result in your organisation being charged for your place at the standard short session member rate of £30**
