Community and Voluntary Groups - What's next for Tamworth Town Centre

People who run community, voluntary and charitable groups in Tamworth are being invited to share their views on Tamworth town centre and how it should evolve for the future as part of an ongoing consultation campaign.

Tamworth…What’s Next? was launched by the Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, Cllr Daniel Cook, earlier this year, with the aim of working with residents, businesses and visitors to develop a new vision for the town centre.

Help us understand the impact and value of the social economy in Staffordshire

A coalition group of several organisations including VAST, CounterCoin, UnLtd, PM Training and The Chamber of Commerce are working together through the Social Enterprise Matters partnership to help strengthen both the voice and influence of the sector, as well as support available to grow a strong and prosperous economy and community which puts social purpose, ethics and value at the core.

Huge funding boost for the Red Lion House Charity

Red Lion House; old pub to new community centre.

Work should restart at the beginning of July to convert the former Red Lion pub into a new community centre. The pub, on the corner of Rolleston Road and Horninglow Road North is believed to be Marston’s first pub, and their first brewery was across the road. The pub closed some years ago and was bought at auction to be converted into a local community centre by a new charity set up for the purpose.

Doing Our Bit in Staffordshire

Invitation from Cllr Phillip Atkins OBE Leader of Staffordshire County Council

I’m sure we can all agree on reasons why living in Staffordshire is great.  Most people are in a job, our economy is growing and people tell us that they are happy and feel safe.  I know that together with the people of Staffordshire and partners right across public, private, voluntary and community sectors, we’re all committed to continue working together in making Staffordshire an even better place to live, work and visit.
