Training - Changes to Cancellation Policy

We are really proud of the extensive learning opportunities we deliver across Staffordshire for those working in the VCSE sector.  We  limit the number of spaces on each course to make sure all learners have the best possible expereince, this means that often courses get booked up really quickly.  It is disappointing therefore when people don't turn up for their training and don't let us know in advance.  As a result of this we have changed our cacellation policy.

Social Groups and Activities from Burton & Uttoxeter Live at Home Scheme

Attached is the Spring newsletter from Burton & Uttoxeter Live at Home Scheme. 

It gives details of all of their activities that take place at various locations across Burton, up until the end of May 2019.  Their activities include Arts and Crafts, Knit and Natter groups, Coffee & Whatever sessions and RelaxAcise classes.

They plan on starting sessions in Uttoxeter from April 2019.

Team Staffordshire – elections- call for nominations!

Support Staffordshire is proud to be the convenor of an important Strategic Group known as Team Staffordshire. As well as acting as a bidding consortia, the group also acts as a strategic thinking group and represents the sector in certain external bodies such as the LEP. The group involves local authority and local business representatives, but is voluntary sector led.

An organisation is now working in the heart of a town centre it was set up to promote, develop and support.

Newcastle-under-Lyme Business Improvement District (BID) has become the latest tenant of Support Staffordshire’s community and voluntary sector hub at the historic Guildhall in Newcastle.

The BID – which was founded in 2015 after a ballot with local businesses and delivers a range of projects – is renting the first floor of the iconic landmark after moving from the Queen’s Gardens Business Centre, at the bottom of the Ironmarket, earlier this week.

Tamworth Borough Council response re closure of Citizens Advice Mid-Staffordshire

Citizens Advice Mid Staffordshire currently provides a range of advisory services to Tamworth residents on behalf of Tamworth Borough Council, in what has been a very effective partnership.

We are saddened by the news that CAMS is to close and appreciate it must have been a very difficult decision for the trustees to make. The council had no previous warning of the closure.

A new Place of Welcome in Lichfield City

Life Church in Netherstowe has joined the national Places of Welcome network, making this the twelfth Place of Welcome in Lichfield District.  Life Church has been welcoming people to its  lunch club for several years and therefore it was a natural step for this to become an official Place of Welcome. The lunch club meets at Life Church on Mondays between 12 noon and 2pm. Everybody is welcome to come along to share a meal and make new friendships.

Together We're Better Local Representatives workshop

This group is comprised of volunteer patient and community representatives who are passionate about public participation and want to help shape health and care services in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

News from the Social Prescribing Network
