Festive Grants For Tamworth

Councillors are hoping to spread some festive cheer again this year by handing out cash to support events, schemes or special projects that bring Tamworth residents together during the Christmas period.

As part of the Festive Grants scheme, £300 will be allocated to voluntary or community groups in each of the borough’s 10 electoral wards towards projects which boost community spirit and tackle loneliness.

Big Lottery Fund to change its name and rebrand

The Big Lottery Fund, the UK’s largest funder of charities, will change its name in the new year to the National Lottery Community Fund.

The fund distributes 40 per cent of the good cause money raised by the National Lottery, which last year involved giving £508.5m to 11,000 projects. However its funding has fallen in the last two years, prompting it to cut £130m from future budgets.

The name change will take effect from 30 January next year. The fund will also launch a rebrand at the same point.

Volunteers Required to Support Socially Isolated in Stone and Eccleshall

Support Staffordshire has recently appointed Robert O’Leary as a Community Navigator as part of a 12 month trial of a social prescribing scheme. The service will be focussed upon a cluster of GP surgeries in Stone & Eccleshall.  To further enhance the scheme Support Staffordshire are looking to recruit Volunteer Community Buddies.

Mental Health Adult Social Care (North Staffordshire)

Please see below change in contact details for mental health adult social care assessment and case management in North Staffordshire (incorporating the districts of Staffordshire Moorlands and Newcastle-under-lyme). 

As from 1st October 2018 Staffordshire County Council will directly deliver adult social care assessment and case management for people with mental health conditions in North Staffordshire. North Staffordshire Combined HealthCare Trust will continue to deliver NHS mental health services; and the two organisations will continue to work closely together.

The six Clinical Commissioning Groups in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent have been working on compiling a joint Equality and Inclusion Strategy for the next three years. The draft strategy is attached below.

We would very much welcome your feedback on shaping this CCGs’ strategy, from as wide a range of local groups and organisations as possible. We are particularly seeking feedback from seldom heard groups / protected characteristic groups / inclusion health groups and their representatives.

Volunteer Drivers needed for East Staffordshire Voluntary Car Scheme

Volunteers have the opportunity to join a community car scheme covering East Staffordshire, where volunteer drivers provide car services to members of their community who have difficulty in accessing or using either their own vehicle or public transport to travel to essential services, such as health appointments, shopping or even visiting friends.

They can play a key role in rural areas where public transport services are limited.

Volunteers needed for Uttoxeter’s first community-led Eco Centre and Recycling Facility

Following months of fundraising, consultation and planning, The Globe Foundation are pleased to announce that they will be shortly starting work on site at their new location (on land next to the Strawberry Garden Centre, Bramshall Road) to create Uttoxeter’s first community-led Eco Centre and Recycling Facility. The site will include; an eco classroom, a community drop-in lounge, the small gardens and The Litterbug Project recycling workshop.
