Fairtrade Fortnight 2021 in Uttoxeter

Fairtrade Fortnight is a national annual event and this year it takes place from 22 February to 7 March 2021. The purpose of the event is to promote awareness of Fairtrade and encourage people to buy Fairtrade products as a way of supporting people in the developing world who supply much of the food, beverages, and other products that people in the United Kingdom enjoy every day. Uttoxeter Town Council and the Fairtrade Uttoxeter Steering Group are working together to promote Fairtrade across the town.

The Pixel Fund

Applications can be made at any time.

Grants are available for UK-based charities and community interest organisations to support projects that promote the mental health and wellbeing of children and young adults.

The Fund generally offers first grants of between £500 and £5,000. However, no single grant is ever more than 5% of annual income.

The Pixel Fund is a small charity which distributes grants to other charities in its field of interest. Its focus is the mental health and wellbeing of children and young adults.

Community support scheme expands after helping thousands

A community support scheme in Staffordshire is to be expanded after the huge success of its first year.

Launched in March 2020, Staffordshire County Council’s Supportive Communities Programme has attracted hundreds of new volunteers and worked with existing charities and groups to help thousands of adults in need of support.

Overdue investment and further funding cuts risk leaving youth services stranded at crisis point

New analysis by YMCA England and Wales shows that Local Authority spending on youth services in 2019/20 in England was £372.12m, a further reduction of 6% year-on-year. This means that since 2010/11 funding for youth services has been cut by 73%.

Not only do these continued cuts come at a time when demand for youth services has intensified, they come at a time when the crucial investment has been promised but not yet fully delivered.

Funding for community and voluntary sector organisations from Lichfield District Council

The deadline to apply is 29 April 2021.

Charities, groups and not-for-profit organisations that work to help the people of Lichfield District are being invited to apply for funding.

Lichfield District Council has £163,000 available each year, over the next three years, to award to community and voluntary sector organisations that can deliver projects to make a difference.  

From supporting older people to live in their homes to working to look after the local environment, the grants will help communities across Lichfield District.
