2019 GSK IMPACT Awards - Core funding and free training for health charities

GSK’s IMPACT Awards reward charities that are doing excellent work to improve people’s health. Organisations must be at least three years old, working in a health-related field in the UK, with income between £80,000 and £2.5 million. Up to 20 awards will be made ranging from £3,000 to £40,000 plus free training valued at up to £6,000. Organisations will also have a film made, receive help with press and publicity and be given a set of promotional materials.

Litter Innovation Fund

WRAP has announced Round 2 of the Litter Innovation Fund (LIF).  A £450,000 programme, funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).

Families Health and Wellbeing Service

In April, Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust launched a new 0-19 model of care, commissioned by Staffordshire County Council. The service brings together health visiting and school nursing and in 2020 will expand to include Children's Centres across Staffordshire. The service aims to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people through offering a balance of self-support and support from professionals and the wider community.

Bereavement Help Points

Many of us find talking about grief difficult but at St Giles we know from experience that talking about bereavement and loss can be incredibly positive.

That is why we operate a series of bereavement help points across the region.  Some of our help points are run in partnership with South Staffordshire Cruse Bereavement Care.

If you are experiencing or have experienced bereavement (regardless of how long ago or the type of bereavement), you will be made very welcome at one of our free weekly drop-in Bereavement Help Points.

South West Peak welcomes new volunteer

The South West Peak Engaging Communities team, hosted by Support Staffordshire, has welcomed a new volunteer to their ranks. Pam (second from the left on the photo) has become the eighth member of the Grant Panel team of volunteers whose role it is to decide which projects should be allocated funding from the South West Peak (SWP) Community Grants Scheme. Sally Bentley, SWP Community Grants Officer, said ‘We are delighted to welcome Pam to our group and are always looking for more people to join us.
