AgeUk Recruiting Walk Leaders

Apply for a grant from NHS England to showcase your work

Has your community or voluntary group been working to involve patients and the public in improving health care services? NHS England will be awarding a number of small grant awards to organisations who can tell the story of their patient and citizen involvement and engagement work in a creative and interesting way. Grants are available of up to £1,000 each. The closing date to apply for funding is 12 noon on 28th September 2015.

Staffordshire County Council offer funded energy audits for community buildings

Staffordshire County Council are able to offer a small number of funded energy audits for community buildings in Staffordshire during the current financial year.

The buildings should be used for a not for profit purpose; in the past they have provided audits for charity drop-in centres, girl guide/scout huts, and community centres.  Eligible buildings will be selected on a first come, first served basis, to be audited around the end of September.

The Dove service announce training sessions

The Dove Service has announced the following training sessions available for carers:-

Coping with Change - 26 August, 1-3pm at Unit 22 at The Dudson Centre, Hope St, Hanley

This course helps carers look at potential changes they may face when caring for someone. It will explore change; reflecting on how we cope with change, considering what potential changes we face and how they may impact on our caring role.

second Live Age Festival - 1st to 3rd October 2015

From 1 - 3 October, the second Live Age Festival will be celebrating the artistic and creative works of talented, older people from across North Staffordshire.

Coinciding with the International Day of Older People (Oct 1st), activities will take place around Staffordshire’s local community centres, residential homes, theatres and galleries – increasing the number of opportunities for local people to get creative and to train those working in the community to integrate creativity into their work.

In parallel there is growing scrutiny of the charity sector and higher expectations around transparency and accountability. And at a global level, the UN Sustainable Development Goals will be ratified in September 2015, with commitments for every member government, not just to the world’s poorest people but to tackling rising inequality, including here in the UK.

Keele University Student Union Volunteering Event

Each year Keele University Student Union have an event for local charities and organisations where they can find out more about Keele student volunteers.

Information is given on the academic year, and the types of roles they can carry out that are maybe not the traditional roles they have.

The University also include a free lunch and a networking opportunity at the end.

The event will be held on 10 September 2015 from 10:30am to 4.00pm.
