Consultation: Staffordshire's Food Landscape

Staffordshire County Council has f3 Local Food Consultants with the aim of gaining an overview of the breadth of Staffordshire’s food landscape and its current value to the local economy whilst also identifying sustainable growth opportunities in order to maximise the social, environmental and economic benefits.

To inform the early research phase of this project f3 have launched a selection of surveys tailored to include producers, processors/manufacturers, distributors, trade buyers, public sector, community initiatives, food waste and consumers.

Foxlowe Films

The community group behind the successful programme of films held Tuesday evenings at Foxlowe Arts Centre in Leek is keen to find champions in the Moorlands villages who can help to promote future film programmes. Support Staffordshire: A new era

Support Staffordshire formally merged into a single organisation, operating across the whole county in January this year and we have been busy reorganising ourselves ready to offer the Right Support to Staffordshire’s diverse and vibrant voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector. I am delighted to introduce our Operations Managers with over 30 years’ experience of supporting the VCSE sector locally, Sandra Payne heads up our Operations across Tamworth, Lichfield, East Staffordshire and Cannock; Jill Norman across Stafford, Staffordshire Moorlands and Newcastle.

Stafford: New Team, New Office

Following the smooth transition of many Support Staffordshire members from the former North Walls Centre to a variety of new accommodation in the county town, Support Staffordshire have themselves packed up (in time for the site’s demolition and redevelopment) and moved to the Stafford Civic Centre.

New Local Nursery and Local Police Scrutiny

We’ve been busy working with Little Treasures Nursery and Entrust to secure a new early years nursery in Cannock, based at Support Staffordshire premises, Coniston Hall in Chadsmoor. Entrust provided a grant to the Nursery for the necessary upgrade of building work and this is now almost finished.

Ofsted are expected to visit during April to confirm that the nursery can commence their service with expected opening during late April for 2-4 year olds.

Volunteering for All Service

Support Staffordshire is delighted to announce it has secured funding from East Staffordshire CCG to expand its Volunteering for All programmes.

We already offer a service focussed on volunteering as a means of overcoming barriers in employability and skills. We are now proud to expand this service to focus on overcoming mental health and physical disability barriers to volunteering.

Let’s Work Together E-Learning Training Now Available

 Featuring 3D Virtual Home Visits where you can practice real life situations, this interactive and flexible learning tool is now available. The Let’s Work Together e-learning course includes 5 modules covering a variety of risks that your staff and volunteers may face in clients’ homes. This training shows you how to identify these risks and explains relevant referral pathways. The course contains a wealth of valuable and practical information from experts in a wide variety of fields, which can be collected through a course portfolio/toolkit.

Advice Partnership Frontline Workers Toolkit Launch and Stakeholder Group

Tamworth Advice Partnership (TAP) has launched its Frontline Workers Toolkit. This small (A5 size), handy guide is designed to give frontline workers the information they need for signposting people to services and support on a range of issues, including Benefits, Money Matters, Gas, Electric and Water, Consumer, Housing and Homelessness, Education, Children & Young People, Family, Older People, Domestic violence, Health and Emergency Services.
