We are very excited to tell you about the Community Business Bright Ideas Fund, a new grant programme to help communities develop their budding community business ideas, launching this September.

The £1.85 million Community Business Bright Ideas Fund will offer community groups tailored support and grants of up to £20,000 to develop their ideas for a community business.

Newcastle Cultural Grants

Newcastle Cultural Grants support high quality cultural activities taking place in the borough. Grants of up to £1,200 are available for projects which support the Council's priorities and which engage local people in cultural activities.  These can include: art in all its forms, music, history, dance, theatre, craft and film.

Newcastle Community Chest funding is now available

Newcastle Community Chest funding is available to community groups, residents’ groups, voluntary organisations and social enterprises who wish to apply for financial support for projects that are able to demonstrate that the proposals meet the needs of residents and have considerable community commitment to the aims of the project.

The Community Chest has a budget of £43,000 for the period 2016/17 and a maximum of £800 will be available to any organisation in any one year.

The big issue

Youth unemployment began rising sharply following the financial crisis in 2008, peaking at around one million in 2011/12. Since then it has dropped to similar levels as before the crisis, at around 600,000. Despite this decrease, the youth unemployment rate (14.9% in 2015) remains significantly higher than the general unemployment rate of 5.4%.

Help us find ways to prevent anybody falling through the cracks and drifting towards long-term unemployment.

The Trustees of Michael Lowe's and Associated Charities will on 24th November 2016 select recitpeints for Charitable gifts of grants fuel.

If you are a needy househiklder of 70 years of age or above iving in Lcihfield City you are invited to apply for a grant towards the cost of your heating.

Applications must be received by 31 October 2016 and can be obtained from the Administrator of the Charity, Mrs J A Bethall of St. Mary's Chambers, 5-7 Breadmarket Street, Lichfield, Staffs, WS13 6LQ.

Heritage Lottery Fund Workshops for New Grants Programme

Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) will open its new Kick the Dust grants programme which is intended to support ambitious youth-focused projects that transform how heritage organisations engage with young people (aged 11 to 25 years).

Grants of between £500,000 and £1 million for projects that take between three to five years to complete will be available to consortia of three or more organisations, including heritage and youth organisations.

Rosie - National Heat Hero 2016
