Keele University Student Union Volunteering Event

Each year Keele University Student Union have an event for local charities and organisations where they can find out more about Keele student volunteers.

Information is given on the academic year, and the types of roles they can carry out that are maybe not the traditional roles they have.

The University also include a free lunch and a networking opportunity at the end.

The event will be held on 10 September 2015 from 10:30am to 4.00pm.

Apply for a grant from NHS England to showcase your work

Has your community or voluntary group been working to involve patients and the public in improving health care services?

NHS England will be awarding a number of small grant awards to organisations who can tell the story of their patient and citizen involvement and engagement work in a creative and interesting way.  Grants are available of up to £1,000 each.

The closing date to apply for funding is 12 noon on 28th September 2015.

biddulph film club launch inaugural film show following final donation of equipment

The Biddulph Film Club has received a cinema screen from the BFI neighbourhood funding scheme. It was the final jigsaw piece that enabled them to complete their equipment quota of film projector, dvd player, sound system speakers and accessories, worth over £4,000 in total.

They would like to thank Support Staffordshire Moorlands and Dave Banks for supporting them on the tricky path which enabled them to reach their now independent state.

Local Council Tax Reduction Scheme Consultation

Tamworth Borough Council is seeking people’s views on a proposed change to its Local Council Tax Reduction Scheme, to take effect from the 1st April 2016. This amendment would see child maintenance payments being disregarded as income when calculating a working age claimant’s Council Tax Reduction entitlement.

The council has launched a consultation asking for people’s views on this proposed change and is also taking this opportunity to gauge opinion on the rest of the scheme which has been in operation since 1st April 2013.

Community Fire Safety Days

Wed 5 Aug 2015

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service are holding Community safety events across the borough on Thursday 1st October. Free stands are available to any voluntary or community group.

The events will take place at Gnosall Grosvenor Centre; Stafford Northfield Centre; Rising Brook Methodist Church; Eccleshall Co-op; and Stone Somerfield Court.

Stafford Work Clubs

Staffordshire rural forum update - August 2015

Staffordshire Rural Forum has been operational, in its current form, for a couple of years. The aim is to progress actions that meet rural needs and where a multi-agency partnership can make a difference. Organised with theme groups on the economy, the environment and the community, each reporting to a steering group, there is opportunity for the VCSE to be represented at each meeting.

Biddulph Work Club welcomes new Staffordshire County Council Chief Executive, John Henderson

Biddulph Work Club run by Support Staffordshire with Your Housing, was pleased to welcome the new Staffordshire County Council Chief Executive, John Henderson to one of their sessions. As well as hearing personal stories from some of the participants, he also learned that between April and June this year the three Moorlands work clubs supported 43 individuals and 24 people gained employment.
