New Prevent Agenda Video Seeks to Inform

All Voluntary and Community sector providers are advised, as part of safeguarding responsibilities, to ensure that they familiarise themselves with their responsibilities under the government’s Prevent Agenda.

Prevent is part of the government’s national counter-terrorism strategy.  As the name suggests it focuses on preventing people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.

Grants Available from The England Illegal Money Lending Team

New funding is available from The England Illegal Money Lending Team to be used to benefit local communities.

The good news is that for the year 2016-2017 organisations will be able to apply for up to £5,000 to directly target an area affected by, or believed to be at risk of, illegal money lending to promote the Illegal Money Lending Team and the message that loan sharks should be avoided at all costs.

Your project idea will need to target illegal money lending and needs to be delivered by the 31st March 2017.

Lichfield Residents Invited to Join Police 'Watchdog'

Lichfield and Burntwood residents are being invited to join a new panel to shape the work of local policing following its recent successful launch.

The Lichfield Safer Neighbourhood Panel was launched in October under plans by Staffordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Ellis, to shine the spotlight on local policing and make Staffordshire’s Police Service the most open, transparent and ethical in the UK.

The Coordinating Isolated Support Service Project - Update May 2016

Following the successful Stakeholder Event held on the 4 March 2016, the project group have been busy in obtaining support from our local MP’s these include Craig Tracey, Christopher Pincher, Karen Bradley, Marcus Jones, and Chris White.  The group met with the MP’s in Parliament on the 16 March presenting the vision and goals of the project.

At present, there is some ongoing background work exploring referral pathways, funding, costings and roles which should be collated in the near future for the next step forward.

Workforce Development Funding (WDF) Open for Claims

The WDF is a funding stream from the Department of Health which is disbursed, in Staffordshire, by CareMatch.

It’s a limited pot of money which funds qualification units and supports the ongoing professional development of staff across adult social care in England.

The WDF can make a significant contribution towards the costs of workers completing health and social care qualifications, units and Apprenticeships.

New Daphne Call for Projects to Respond to Violence Against Women & Children

The European Commission has issued a new call for proposals under the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme. It has €3m funding to provide Action grants to support transnational projects that support and protect women and children victims of violence and to bring about more frequent reporting of such violence. In particular, the priorities of this call for proposals cover two strands. Read more

Community Radio Fund Opens for Applications

Telecom's Regulator Ofcom, has announced that the Community Radio Fund 2016-2017 has opened for applications. Funding is available to not-for-profit radio stations that have a social purpose, and work to involve their target community in running the service. Funding will be available to Community Radio Stations towards their core running costs. Read more
