Free, Facilitated Coaching from Senior Business Mentors Now Available

Pilotlight is a national charity supporting small to medium charities and social enterprises to become bigger, better or more sustainable.

The Pilotlight Programme supports partner organisations through its structured mentoring programme with 4 senior business coaches and a paid Project Manager. Pilotlight has worked with over 500 organisations already to develop their business skills, strengthen their finance and governance and increase their impact. The support is free of charge to partner organisations, with projects lasting for 10-12 months.

You must be aged 18 or under on 01 July 2016 to take part.

Hosts Sought for Lichfield Festival Ragdoll Project

Could you host one or more of our Ragdolls as part of our Community Art Trail this July? We are currently working with artists, schools, community groups and families to create over 100 Ragdolls from miniature to over 5ft in scale.  All of the dolls will be displayed across Lichfield in selected venues during the Festival from 1-10 July and featured on a trail map available for visitors to follow.

Burton Job Fair Hailed a Success

The Burton Mail reported the success of the recent Jobs Fair which was attended by Support Staffordshire. 

The newspaper reported how the event was attended by hundreds of people who were seeking to get back into work or who were looking to change careers. More than 500 people visited the event which was organised by East Staffordshire's Worklessness Action Group, whilst 44 employers and partners manned stands.

Staffordshire County Council's Thrive Scheme Seeks to Recruit Foster Carers for Children with Disabilities

A Celebration of Volunteering in Lichfield

A Celebration of Volunteering was held at the Guildhall where representatives from 29 local and national charities and community interest groups showcased their organisations to give information about the work they do to help support and improve the lives of Lichfield residents and to encourage and promote volunteering.

Members of the public went along to the event on Friday 10 June to find out more about volunteering in the Lichfield District and how to get involved – with a number of them signing up as volunteers there and then.

“Vision of the Valley” Exhibition Tour

On Sunday 12 June at Tittesworth Reservoir the eagerly awaited photographic exhibition “Vision of the Valley” was launched. This stunning exhibition celebrates the Churnet Valley Living Landscape Partnership (CVLLP) 4 year Heritage Lottery funded project in pictures. Karen Bradley MP, Alan Taylor from the Heritage Lottery Fund and James Sells CVLLP Chair were all in attendance at the Wild About Water event, where families also enjoyed activities such as bushcraft, willow weaving, bug hunting and river dipping.

Mayor of Leek Councillor Ben Emery Visits Leek Work Club

Leek Mayor, Councillor Ben Emery, recently visited the local work club run by Support Staffordshire and Your Housing. This is one of three work clubs operating in the Moorlands since 2011 supporting local unemployed people back into work. They are open to everyone living in the Moorlands whether they are unemployed or not – anyone who wants to find work or look for a change in career is welcome and will always be greeted with a smile and a friendly face.
