Free Taster Sessions in Tamworth

A number of free Taster Sessions are being held at Tamworth Library during May and June:-

  • Trace Your Family History - Saturday 21st May, 10:00 - 12:00
  • Painting & Drawing - Friday 3rd June, 13:00 - 15:00
  • Fun Floristry - Saturday 4th June, 10:00 - 12:00
  • Sign Language - Saturday 11th June, 14:00 - 16:00

Reading Well for Young People: Shelf Help

Reading Well for young people is a national scheme launched in public libraries on 12 April, which will provide 13-18 year-olds with high-quality information, support and advice on a wide-range of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders and self-harm, and difficult life pressures, like bullying and exams.

Neighbourly and Marks & Spencer Seek to Donate Surplus Food to Local Charities

Neighbourly are working with Marks & Spencer to coordinate donations of their surplus food to local charities. They are currently looking for someone that Lichfield M&S can team up with. Collections would need to be made from store at least once per week, and the store is located at WS13 6NF.

Reach with Asist Advocacy Service

Asist advocacy service has recently been awarded the self-advocacy contract for Staffordshire, which will be delivered through our Reach project.  Reach was set up in 2000 to support adults with learning disabilities to speak up for themselves and others.  The new self-advocacy contract has been extended to include adults and young people from age 14 with learning disabilities and/or autistic spectrum conditions and young people between the ages of 14 -24 with special educational needs and disabilities.

Over 600 new retail jobs coming to Stafford - JCP visit venues in the community to upskill the unemployed for new retail vacancies

Stafford Town Centre is benefitting from a £70 million pound investment for major developments including a new 18-unit shopping centre, and a new 5-screen cinema. This will create over 600 new retail and hospitality vacancies for the town centre with a wide range of organisations who are recruiting individually in different phases over the next 10 months.

April sees the launch of the 20th annual Stafford Borough Council Green Awards.  

If your organisation, or another organisation you know about, has been eco-friendly please let us know – and join in the special celebrations with us this year!

Categories include: Business, Youth and Education, Community and Wellbeing and the Public Sector. There are also several special prizes relating to green tourism, energy, wildlife and transport, plus the ‘Green Purse’ and ‘Let’s Recycle’ awards and a ‘Best Newcomer’ prize.

HMPYOI Brinsford & Hmp Swinfen Hall Job Vacancy: Gardener

HMPYOI Brinsford & Hmp Swinfen Hall are looking to recruit a paid gardener for their project in HMP  Swinfen Hall. It will be for 3 days a week working with the lads on their Therapeutic gardening project.

Horticultural experience or at least very good gardening knowledge would be required. It is a fantastic project in a great garden.
