As regular readers will be aware, I have been pressing for some time now for greater engagement and representation for the VCSE sector at some of the countywide health structures, especially the Health and Wellbeing Board. Although we have made little progress I wanted to update you that I have pushed for a letter from the Staffordshire Voice Chief Officers Group. Again proposing representation and a mechanism for achieving it. The Voice Group is coordinated by VAST and Chaired by Nick Maslen of Age UK South Staffordshire. I will keep you posted on the outcome.

Why Community Capacity and Google’s Tax Bill are about the same thing!

Yep, Google’s tax affairs and building community capacity are really the same thing and here is why…

When it comes to buzz words and fashionable phrases, Building Community Capacity is trending high these days. Cynics amongst you will feel this is about saving public money and cutting local government funding. And on the latter you’ll get my sympathies; local services (and councils) have seen an unfair proportion of the deficit reduction and its now really beginning to show.

Staffordshire County Council, Stoke-on-Trent City Council, OPCC, and Staffordshire Police have released a briefing paper on the Child Sexual Exploitation Communications Campaign, Communications Safer Internet Day / Say no to sexting campaign.

The briefing note regarding Communications activity will be circulated to partners once a fortnight until the end of campaign evaluation in April 2016.

The Potting Shed is the exciting new project developed in Partnership with E.S.B.C’s Greenhouse team and Fountains High School.

Students from Fountains High School now manage the retail unit based at the Greenhouse Centre located in Stapenhill Cemetery, Burton. They are able to offer you top quality plants at low prices including: Shrubs, Perennials, Alpines, Herbs, Houseplants and Vegetable plug plants.

The Potting shed is open Tuedsays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am – 2pm throughout the growing season.

Sittings are held every Friday Lunch time at 12.00.
