Severn Trent award a £4,500 community fund to three local community projects following arrival of new wind turbine

To coincide with the arrival of their new wind turbine to Curborough Sewage Treatment Works, Lichfield, Severn Trent has awarded a £4,500 community fund to three local community projects. The 500kW capacity turbine stands 50m tall to its hub or 74m to the tip of its blades and will contribute to Severn Trent’s target of providing 50% of its energy needs from renewables by 2020.

THE ENGLAND ILLEGAL MONEY LENDING TEAM - NEW FUNDING AVAILABLE

New funding is now available from The England Illegal Money Lending Team, to be used to benefit local communities.

For the year 2015-2016, organisations will be able to apply for up to £5,000 to directly target an area affected by, or believed to be at risk of, illegal money lending. This is to promote the England Illegal Money Lending Team and the message that loan sharks should be avoided at all costs.

Submitted project ideas will need to target illegal money lending. The deadline for submission is 31st March 2016.

Burton Addiction Centre - Volunteering & Employment Opportunities Through Their Social Enterprise Lagan's Tearooms

Through the O’Connor Gateway Trust, the Burton Addiction Centre is able to offer volunteering and employment opportunities through their social enterprise Lagan’s tearooms. All clients who complete the 18 week residential rehabilitation programme at the BAC are offered 6 months voluntary experience in a range of roles at the tearooms, followed by 6 months employment.

Countryside Stewardship rolls into Churnet Valley

Woodland owners in the Churnet Valley are putting government grant funding for woodland management to good use, with farms in the area among those signing up to the scheme. The new funding package, called the Countryside Stewardship scheme, will offer land managers grant funding to help carry out woodland management which improves the woodland for wildlife. Conservation project, the Churnet Valley Living Landscape Partnership (CVLLP) is giving free help and advice to woodland owners interested in the scheme.
