House of Bread Launches New Prospectus

House of Bread (HoB) is a local Christian charity founded in 2010. It started by offering a meal and company once a week, aiming to provide community for those who are homeless or vulnerable. The work has grown in both the number of friends attending and in the number of access points offered each week, but it has also highlighted the difficulty many vulnerable people face in accessing secure housing, work, healthcare and other social support. House of Bread aims to bridge this gap, and support vulnerable people in accessing the help they need.

Diabetes Patient Engagement Update

During June and early July 2016, Cannock Chase, Stafford and Surrounds, and South East Staffordshire and Seisdon Peninsula Clinical Commissioning Groups undertook some engagement group sessions along with hosting an on-line survey for Diabetes patients. 

The Diabetes Online Survey was open for a month up until 11 July 2016 and was promoted via GP Practices, the voluntary sector in Staffordshire, social media, the national charity Diabetes UK and local newspapers. The survey was based around the fifteen health checks and services a patient should receive.

Community Asset Transfer Workshop – 29 September 2016

Support Staffordshire, in partnership with Urban Vision North Staffordshire and Staffordshire Rural Forum, is holding this half day workshop for those considering, or involved in, taking on a community asset (any building of importance to the local community such as a youth centre or local pub).

Funding Available to Support Disadvantaged Young People

The Weaver's Company Benevolent Fund supports projects working with disadvantaged young people (aged 5 to 30 years) to ensure that they are given every possible chance to meet their full potential and to participate fully in society. The Fund also aims to help young people at risk of criminal involvement to stay out of trouble and assist in the rehabilitation of offenders, particularly young offenders both in prison and after release.

Funding Available to Support Family Based Projects

The Kelly Family Charitable Trust is open to applications from registered charities for projects that support and encourage the family to work as a cohesive unit in tackling problems that face one or more of its members. The overall objective is to reinforce the potential benefit and support that family members as a unit can give to each other. The fund also welcomes applications from sports and health-related charities whose activities comply with the above criteria. Grants are of between £1,000 and £5,000, but higher grants may be considered.
