Food Train is an award-winning charity and social enterprise, established in Scotland over 20 years ago by older people for older people. With a small staff and over 800 volunteers Food Train delivers multi-faceted support, for more than 2600 older people, to live well at home for longer. Its core grocery delivery service delivered over 40,000 grocery orders in 2016 and is the largest of its kind in the UK.

Rural Health and Well-being workshop

Dr Tom Kingstone is a researcher from Keele University. He is currently running an initiative called FRRESH, which stands for the Forum for Rural RESearch on Health & Well-being.

Through FRRESH we aim to bring rural stakeholders (e.g. health and social care workers, voluntary sector organisations, council members, members of the public, academics) together to discuss important health and well-being topics that impact people in rural areas. This discussion can then inform the research that we do.

Macmillan Coffee Morning in Leek

On Friday 28th September, to coincide with Macmillan’s ‘world’s biggest coffee morning’, Borderland Voices participant Marlene Hogg organised a coffee morning/bring and buy in aid of the national cancer charity.  In the attractive surroundings of Borderland Voices’ base in Bank House, Leek, friends, trustees and other participants gathered to share a coffee, chat and enjoy Marlene’s delicious, freshly-made scones with jam, cream and strawberries.
