Fri 8 Mar 2019
The ribbon has been cut after a £1.6million project to refurbish facilities at Burntwood Leisure Centre.
Freedom Leisure, which manages the site, carried out work to make the building more energy efficient, as well as improved studio and gym facilities.
Cllr Bob Awty, Chairman of Lichfield District Council, joined directors to formally open the new-look leisure centre.
Freedom Leisure’s managing director, Ivan Horsfall-Turner, said: “We’re delighted to unveil this extremely high-spec centre which features one of the best gyms in the area and a cycling studio to rival the top boutique studios in London.
“Both Lichfield District Council and ourselves are committed to a healthy, active Lichfield and local facilities such as these are crucial in supporting local residents – this centre is so much more than a gym, with hundreds of ways to be active and play sport all under one roof in a friendly, welcoming environment. We have something for all ages and abilities.”
To showcase the new facilities, the leisure centre is inviting locals to an open day on Saturday (2nd February) where there will be free use of the gym, free taster classes and swimming sessions for £1.
Cllr Awty added: “I was delighted to help cut the ribbon to officially launch Burntwood Leisure Centre’s improvements. The refurbished centre looks great, and we’re all so pleased that local people will benefit from the new state-of-the-art equipment and features it has to offer.”
