Wind Turbine Community Fund
Thu 28 May 2015
Severn Trent Water is offering an exciting opportunity for local community groups and projects to apply for funding.
A community grant has been made available as part of their wind turbine development at Curborough Sewage Treatment Works, Lichfield. The turbine will have a 500kW capacity and be 50m tall to its hub or 74m tall to the tip of its blades. It will play an important role in Severn Trent’s target to provide 50% of their energy requirements from renewable sources by 2020.
Working with Support Staffordshire, Severn Trent have made £4,500 available to benefit local community groups or projects which provide a long-lasting legacy for the community. Rocklands School, Lichfield, have already benefitted from £500 towards IT equipment after naming the turbine through a school competition. The winning name will be announced when the turbine is complete.
If you have a project or group where the funding could help to deliver a sustainable impact, please get in touch with Mitchell Payne at Support Staffordshire. Severn Trent is looking to support several projects using the fund.
