Update on Government's Repair & Refurbishment Fund for Village Halls announced in October Budget

Tue 5 Feb 2019

ACRE has put out an update on the announcement in the October Budget that the government will provide up to £8 million to help with the cost of repairs and alterations to village halls, Miners’ Welfare facilities and Armed Forces organisations’ facilities.

Prior to the budget ACRE submitted a budget representation urging the government to pledge £3 million in the Budget to refund the VAT paid by village halls on improvement work such as modern kitchen and toilet facilities and new meeting rooms.

ACRE is currently working with Defra to develop the processes, procedures, criteria and eligibility for a new fund which will be a one off grant fund not a VAT Refund Scheme. It will be available early in the new financial year and ACRE will let everyone know as soon as they have more news.

As soon as Support Staffordshire has more information on this fund we will publicise it.
