Tamworth gains a new Place of Welcome

Mon 10 Jun 2019

Places of Welcome, the network of community groups which seeks to provide each neighbourhood with somewhere to go for a cuppa, a chat and some support, has another new addition. The latest place to join the network in the Tamworth area is Amington Church on the Green, which opens every Thursday from 2pm until 4pm.

Places of Welcome Facilitator – Judith Parry - had the privilege of joining this group at its launch in May.  She was offered the customary warm welcome, plus tea and cake, by volunteer hosts Mandy and Ben (pictured below).  She then had a lively conversation with the other people present, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere this group has to offer.

The Tamworth area plays host to a number of Places of Welcome.  In addition to this new one in Amington, the city centre has four, Glascote five, with Wilnecote and Stonydelph having one each.  Coffee shops, community centres and churches all open their doors in this way, with every weekday and Saturday morning currently being covered by a Place of Welcome.  Further places are also expected to join the network in the coming few months, as a result of interest being expressed by other local organisations.

The website at  www.placesofwelcome.org.uk has a search function, which enables people to find the most convenient Place of Welcome for them.  Visit this site, or email Judith on placesofwelcometct@outlook.com for more information about the network.  Alternatively, just drop in to one, you will be guaranteed a welcome.
