Tamworth Borough Council response re closure of Citizens Advice Mid-Staffordshire

Thu 28 Feb 2019

Citizens Advice Mid Staffordshire currently provides a range of advisory services to Tamworth residents on behalf of Tamworth Borough Council, in what has been a very effective partnership.

We are saddened by the news that CAMS is to close and appreciate it must have been a very difficult decision for the trustees to make. The council had no previous warning of the closure.

Our priority now is making sure there is a robust plan in place to ensure continued support to existing service users until the closure date of March 31st, as well as exploring all options for the continued delivery of these services in the future.

CAMS has advised that people will still be able to access advice through the Citizens Advice website at www.citizensadvice.org.uk after the closure and are actively working with the council to ensure continued services for existing clients.

Help continues to be available via the Citizens Advice SE Staffs outreach drop-in centre at the Tamworth Community Hub in the Castle Grounds, which runs every Tuesday and Thursday between 10am and 12.30pm. There is also the Tamworth Community Advice Network (CAN) which operates from 1 King Street, Tamworth, on 01827 768809.
