Supported Volunteering for 18-25 Year Olds in Tamworth

Mon 15 Nov 2021

Support Staffordshire are offering a great opportunity for people aged 18-25 to get into supported volunteering opportunities in the Tamworth area

The project, named Volunteering for All, has been created purely with enhancing the lives of young people in mind, providing them a more personal and easier method of finding and getting into volunteering in Tamworth.

What will Volunteering for All do for you?

You will have someone there who will discuss with you one-to-one what you wish to get out of volunteering, what sort of role you are looking for and from there go through a list of possible placements that match your personality and desires. They will be with you every step of the way to provide advice, support and encouragement be it over the phone, email or in person. Once a placement is found and agreed on they will go with you to the organisation, introduce you to who you will be volunteering for and contact you regularly to ensure you are getting on well and feeling comfortable in your new role.

But what are the benefits of volunteering?

Volunteering is an excellent way for a young person to build upon their CV with their experiences while in their placement and a chance to gain additional references. But it is far more than just that, volunteering is a way to gain new skills, build confidence and self-esteem, interact with others and build new friendships.

Due to the Covid pandemic, there has been an increase of low level mental health issues in 18-25 year olds including anxiety, feelings of isolation and loneliness to name but a few. Through supported volunteering the Volunteering for All project truly believes these issues can be addressed and positive outcomes for our volunteers reached where these issues are overcome.

We want to help and support the young people of Tamworth into a better, more confident and positive stage of their life so they have all the chances we can give them to flourish.

If any of this sounds like it would benefit yourself or someone you know, or if you are an organisation which has volunteer opportunities for young people please do not hesitate to contact our Volunteering for All Officer, Mitchell Dodd by emailing mitchell.dodd@supportstaffordshire.org.uk or phoning 07399 424057.
