Support Staffordshire received a boost this week with confirmation of £10,000 of grant funding from the Big Lottery Fund.

The award will provide funding for new IT equipment to help support the work we do across Staffordshire particularly around volunteering.  Each year we handle over 3000 enquiries from people looking to volunteer in their community.  Each prospective volunteer is offered an appointment with a volunteer advisor (themselves a volunteer) who will help them search online over 6000 opportunities to find the right match.

We also support community groups and local charities and social enterprises. Much of this support work is IT based including reviewing constitutions, registering with Companies House or the Charity Commission and completing funding searches.

Garry Jones , Chief Executive at Support Staffordshire said, said “We are absolutely delighted to be successful in our bid to receive grant funding from the Big Lottery Fund. The new IT hardware is crucial to maintaining our success story as our current hardware is old, slow and inefficient with volunteer advisers frequently complaining about systems crashing.  By spending less time fixing IT issues our staff and volunteers will be able to offer more support sessions to a larger and wider group of people.”

We’d like to thank The Big Lottery Fund and the National Lottery players that create the fund that make all of this possible – thank you.”
