Staffordshire Moorlands Work Club members enhance work skills

Wed 5 Aug 2015

Staffordshire Moorlands Work Club members enhanced their work skills earlier this year by taking part in RTITB Fork Lift Truck Licence and Warehouse & Storage Level 2 training delivered by Buxton and Leek College at their Harper Hill Unit in Buxton. The course was set up to train individuals who wish to enter the production and warehousing industry and teach them to a level where they are capable of completing and passing a Fork Lift Truck Counter Balance test. This test enables them to access a Licence ID photo card which is valid for 3 years, they can use this licence to find employment in a number of different trades including warehousing, construction and production work. Brian Cartwright from Blythe Bridge who attends Cheadle Work Club stated “This course has been very beneficial for me as I am looking to find work in warehousing. I worked at Creda Ltd in Stoke-on-Trent for over twenty years as a fork lift driver, later going on to supervise and train other fork lift truck drivers.  I became ill and lost my licence which knocked my confidence. Hopefully this card will help me to get a job and build my confidence. I had a few knock-backs but Cheadle Work Club has helped me over the past 12 months and got me on this course. Now I’ve passed the qualification.“ Photo: Cheadle Work Club – Brian Cartwright
