Food insecurity exposed by COVID-19

Use of UK food banks almost doubled during lockdown, with a significant spike in demand from people with children. Recognising that the situation is likely to worsen, the cross-party group of MPs call on Government to urgently appoint a ‘Minister for Food Security’.

The new Minister would work across Government departments to collect robust data and deliver sustainable change. The report also urges the Government to consult on whether a ‘right to food’ should be put in legislation.

Barely a quarter of charities' coronavirus fund for England allocated

Barely a quarter of a £200m emergency coronavirus fund for small charities in England has been allocated, and still less paid out, even though Rishi Sunak promised money would be distributed “at pace” when he announced the fund in early April.

More than 10,000 charities have applied for grants from the coronavirus community support fund (CCSF) for England, many of them struggling to survive the impact of the crisis on their regular fundraising.

The Voluntary and Community Sector Response to the Covid-19 Pandemic

A coordinated approach was enabled through infrastructure organisations VAST and Support Staffordshire. The response was effective, being needs driven, agile, and organisations shared best-practice openly.

Just Family CIC - Update

As from Monday 3rd August Just Family CIC will be offering a weekly group session every Monday morning from 9.30am - 11.30am at Torus Wellbeing Clinic,  Elgin Chambers 24, Cemetery Rd, Stoke-On-Trent ST4 2DL with full social distance measures in place - Babies welcome.

Just us: Is a Perinatal Support Group (Mums mental well-being) from bumps to 4 years, Peer support, Tea/Coffee/Snacks, guest speakers as well as pre/postnatal advocacy service.
