Stafford Volunteering Update
Tue 6 Apr 2021
As lockdown restrictions ease over this month and next, we expect many organisations to reopen and more people to begin moving back into the community. It has been a difficult time for many since January, and this third lockdown has really hit some people hard. That means that there are many people in need of assistance, and also that many of you may want to volunteer in order to connect with your community, grow your confidence and boost your mental health. As I have often said, through these posts, volunteering benefits both the volunteer and the organisation / community.
If you're looking to volunteer, then get in touch and I'll be happy to help.
It's also worth noting that volunteering isn't closed to anyone, and though it sometimes takes a bit of time, there is a volunteering role for everyone. In my role of volunteering officer, I am able to provide extra support to those who want to volunteer but might have barriers to getting starting.
At the most basic level this means that I can help you to search for a suitable placement, so that you don't have to do the "knocking on doors" - because I'll do that bit for you. A great help!
I have however also helped people who have, to give some examples, needed help with filling in forms, wanted someone to accompany them to an introduction day or volunteer interview, or even the first day of volunteering. Everyone's situation is different, but if they feel that they would like someone in their corner to help them get started, that's what I'm here for. It's always more difficult to go somewhere new, but for some this could be a big barrier. I'm here to help, as I know that things get easier once you're settled.
So regardless of who you are, if you're interested in getting started with volunteering, then email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com and we will be happy to help.
Make a difference to your life, and someone else's today - volunteer!
