Tue 6 Apr 2021

Here are some of the latest volunteering opportunities available across Stafford.

Puppy Parent

We are looking for caring family homes in Stafford to raise, socialise and train puppies and young dogs up to the age of 18 months old. Ideally with-in 45 minutes drive of ST18 9PR post code area. This is a full time volunteer role. The puppy / dog will live with you from 8 weeks old until it is ready to progress into advanced training. This is between 14 to 18 months old.

Craftsperson (working from home)

We are seeking skilled volunteers to help people with disabilities achieve independence and a better quality of life. We do this by designing and tailor-making equipment for their individual needs. Volunteers work from home using their own tools and workshop space and give their time free but are recompensed for the cost of materials, travel, etc. This helps our clients carry our essential daily tasks without having to ask for assistance, or take part in leisure occupations or sports that would otherwise be impossible for them. The opportunity to help give people with disabilities the simple joy of independence.

Court Witness Supporter

We are looking for individual who can give witnesses and their supporters confidential support, guidance and information to make their experience of a criminal court more comfortable, and help witnesses cope with the emotional effects of giving evidence. You will be friendly, caring, supportive and empathetic towards others. Also be non-judgemental and impartial in supporting all people. And have good communication skills; both written and verbal, as well as being a good listener.

Wildlife Photographer

We are looking for volunteers who are skilled in photography and photo editing to provide publish ready (print and web) images to be incorporated in our latest project. Virtual Tour Volunteers can also assist with some of the advanced or less common techniques (such as creating panoramas). Required person specifications include: Enjoy walking and exploring the countryside, an interest in natural or cultural heritage and own camera equipment with image editing computer and software. Perfect perhaps for a someone looking to study photography or art and wants to explore how photography can help to tell their story.

The following three opportunities are all provided by a local arts centre in Stafford:

Handyperson

We need practical maintenance help from someone who has the necessary skills, and is available for about half a day per week in order to help ensure the centre is fit for purpose to be opened to the public post lockdown.

Finance Support

We need a person who is organised and self motivated. There is not a lot of financial transactions and we do not expect the time taken each week to be huge, maybe an hour a week but often less. We will need to to work closely with the treasurer who will prepare finance reports for the trustees. This is a great opportunity for an accountancy student or similar wishing to gain experience.

Trustees

We need Trustees who are prepared to join in sometimes on a day to day basis, in order to move the project forward. As such we would like people to apply who have administrative, financial, marketing and managerial skills.
