South West Peak
Mon 20 Apr 2015
Support Staffordshire is a member of the partnership which was successful in reaching the development stage of a Landscape Partnership bid with the Heritage Lottery Fund for the South West Peak.
The project area covers the Moorlands part of the Peak District as well as the Macclesfield Forest and Goyt Valley areas (see attached map) and will give opportunities for local community and voluntary groups to get involved in a wide variety of projects aimed at preserving, enhancing and understanding the special qualities of this landscape- the important habitats and species as well as historic features.
Support Staffordshire is likely to be specifically involved in aspects of community engagement and volunteer involvement, hopefully including a community grants scheme if approval is given for a delivery phase starting in January 2017, much along the lines of the current successful Churnet Valley Living Landscape Partnership. More information to come soon.
