Announcement from Staffordshire North and Stoke-on-Trent Citizens Advice Bureaux (SNSCAB)

Resettlement of Syrian Refugees in Staffordshire

As I am sure you are aware Staffordshire County Council has committed to resettle 50 Syrian refugees under the Government’s Syrian Vulnerable Persons Relocation (VPR) scheme. The new arrivals will be accommodated in the 3 key towns of Stafford, Burton and Newcastle-under-Lyme. The support services to facilitate this will be coordinated by Refugee Action in this area under the name of Staffordshire Refugee Integration and Independence Service.

As you may know Staffordshire North and Stoke-on-Trent Citizens Advice Bureaux (SNSCAB) have worked with asylum seekers and refugees in Stoke for more than 15 years and we will be working in partnership with Refugee Action for 6 months providing a service mapping and capacity building role. Our role is to identify local services that may be able to link into the Integration and Independence Service and to assist with training needs to support organisations to do this.

Please download and complete a short survey in order to help us get a general overview of organisations in the area. The document is called VPRS Questionnaire and can be found on our website.

We don’t want people to spend too much time on completing the survey as we can get in touch with you later for more information. At this stage we would appreciate it if you would return your completed survey to us ASAP.

If you think someone else in your organisation would be better placed to complete the survey, then we would appreciate it if you would forward it on to them and please share with any other organisations you think may be interested.
