PPE 4 Community - Update

Tue 7 Jul 2020

PPE 4 Community a community interest company in Stoke-On-Trent was awarded funding by The Community Foundation for Staffordshire in June 2020 to donate PPE items to elderly care homes in the region.

The project was inspired by an article in the Sentinel in April about the care home manager at Safe Harbor who stated that at the time PPE Items were in high demand and short supply to his care homes. This message was repeated by many elderly care homes in the region.

The management team of Paul Smith and Robin Chakanyuka are donating hundreds of PPE items in the community and are welcoming referrals from elderly care homes and elderly community projects and charities who require PPE support. The organisation is also working with Support Staffordshire.

Paul Smith Said “We thank The Community Foundation for Staffordshire for supporting this project which is very close to our hearts; as we want to make a contribution to our community and support elderly people during the pandemic and for the long-term. We hope to be awarded additional funding from the Big Lottery and further funding from The Community Foundation for Staffordshire to make more PPE donations and even food package donations to the vulnerable elderly and BAME community.”

The organisation has also produced a YouTube video with their local seamstress Elizabete Barbosa demonstrating how elderly people can make their own easy to make face coverings as an activity in their care home setting which is available.

They welcome enquiries via their website.
