Places of Welcome - Full House in Tamworth Libraries
Thu 4 Jul 2019
More local libraries are now offering an extra special welcome to all visitors including free refreshments, friendly volunteers and lively chat on a regular weekly basis. All three libraries in Tamworth have joined the national Places of Welcome network which is made up of small community organisations providing an unconditional welcome and hospitality to local people for at least a few hours each week.
Places of Welcome are run by local groups who want to make sure that everyone in their area has a place to go for a friendly face, a cup of tea and a conversation. This now includes the following libraries:
- Glascote Community Managed Library which is run by Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust and and holds its Place of Welcome on Tuesday afternoons 2pm - 4pm
- Wilnecote Community Managed Library which is run by The Wilnecote School and runs its Place of Welcome on Wednesday mornings 9.30am - 11.30am
- Tamworth Library which is run by Staffordshire County Council holds its PoW on Thursday afternoons 2-4pm
The national Places of Welcome movement is spreading across the Midlands and other parts of the country with over 350 venues taking part, including twelve across Tamworth Borough. A full list of the times and locations of Places of Welcome can be found at www.placesofwelcome.org.uk.
