Fri 9 Nov 2018

Transforming Communities Together – sessional work until 31st March 2019

Transforming Communities Together (TCT) is a Joint Venture between the Church Urban Fund and the Diocese of Lichfield. TCT runs several social justice projects including Places of Welcome. The Places of Welcome movement is a growing network of hospitality run entirely by volunteers from the local community groups, including faith and non faith groups, who want to make sure that everyone in their area has a place to go for a friendly face, a cup of tea and a conversation if and when they need it. The primary aim is that every neighbourhood has places where people feel safe to belong, connect with others and contribute to the community. There are 30 Places of Welcome running each week across Staffordshire.

We are looking for a sessional worker(s) who can establish a further three Places of Welcome in Burton and Uttoxeter by the end of March.

The role would include the following duties:

  • Identify and work with interested faith and community groups to promote and develop Places of Welcome and encourage existing drop in activities to join the network
  • Communicate effectively with Co-ordinators, helping them to set up and manage their Places of Welcome, connecting them with one another and the wider network
  • Encourage the active 'buddying' of Places of Welcome with one another
  • Administer Places of Welcome resources
  • Ensure the collection and recording of appropriate monitoring information
  • Prepare project reports
