Pathway Project Presents - Cream Tea with Nell Gwynne at Tutbury Castle

For their next event, Pathway Patrons are proud to present the fabulous Lesley Smith who is kindly hosting a fundraising Cream Tea at the amazing Tutbury Castle, Castle St, Tutbury, Staffs, DE13 9JF on Sunday 23 June 2019 2pm-4pm. She is entertaining us with her unique portrayal of Nell Gwynne, a prolific celebrity figure of the Restoration period. Praised by Samuel Pepys for her comic performances as one of the first actresses on the English stage, she became best known for being a long-time mistress of King Charles II of England and Scotland.

Lesley has been the Curator of Tutbury Castle since 2000. She is a medical historian holding an M.Phil in Tudor medicine, is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, and is also a Member of the Society of Medical Writers. Awarded an Honorary Masters Degree in 2010 by the University of Derby for 'Services to History in the Community', she has 38 academic publications, and is also published in the wider community, with her own regular feature in 'Staffordshire Life'.

Lesley has appeared in over 120 television programmes, some of which have been broadcast to 38 countries. She is well known for her highly entertaining and informative costumed portrayals of a variety of historical characters, which she gives both at the Castle and across the UK and beyond.
