New Government Work and Health Programme

Mon 14 Nov 2016

If you support people in ways that enhance their employability, you may already have been approached by companies who are planning to bid for the Government's new Work and Health Programme. However, all those wishing to deliver had to submit an Umbrella Agreement Response to the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) by 9th November. DWP will then decide on the 6 providers who will be invited to tender for each of the geographic areas. We should find out in December which 6 primes will be covering Stoke and Staffordshire, and these will be the ones that local groups can work with, if they so choose. It seems that DWP want local and specialist organisations to be part of the supply chain and the primes will have to state how they plan to engage with the local voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector. Watch this space for further information.

There is current consultation on the Government Green Paper on work, health and disability. You can comment up to 17th January 2017 on www.gov.uk/government/consultations/work-health-and-disability-improving-lives/work-health-and-disability-green-paper-improving-lives
