Moorlands Voluntary and Community Transport

Wed 13 Mar 2019

It's business as usual!

We would like to reassure people that despite the loss of all funding from the County Council, Support Staffordshire's voluntary and community transport scheme in the Staffordshire Moorlands will be 'service as usual' after 31st March. Initially Support Staffordshire will keep the project running whilst a new, independent organisation is due to be launched soon.

Sally Bentley, Voluntary and Community Transport Officer, said 'we know how important the schemes are to our passengers, whether we are enabling them to access hospital appointments, visit friends or attend luncheon clubs; it is vital that we keep these schemes going. Our passengers nominated the voluntary car scheme for a Moorlands Heroes Award; myself and three of the longest serving volunteer drivers (having over 80 years of volunteering between them) attended the ceremony, and we were delighted to win.'

Please keep an eye out for further updates on the new organisation.
