Healthwatch Chair and Board Members Recruitment

Engaging Communities Staffordshire (ECS) were successful in winning the Healthwatch Stoke-on-Trent contract that is due to commence on 1 February 2019. Healthwatch Stoke-on-Trent, was established in April 2013 with the primary aim of improving the services offered to local people in the areas of health, adult and children’s social care in conjunction with a wide range of partners and stakeholders.

To support this new service, ECS are currently undertaking a recruitment process to recruit a Healthwatch Chairperson and Board members.

Support Staffordshire's Rural Service

Since September 2018, Support Staffordshire has taken on the role of Rural Community Council for Staffordshire (previously done by the Community Council of Staffordshire) and is the local member of ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England).

Our Rural Officers offer an additional rural-focused service on top of our general range of services to voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations across Staffordshire.

Volunteers Required to Support Socially Isolated in Stone and Eccleshall

Support Staffordshire has recently appointed Robert O’Leary as a Community Navigator as part of a 12 month trial of a social prescribing scheme. The service will be focussed upon a cluster of GP surgeries in Stone & Eccleshall.  To further enhance the scheme Support Staffordshire are looking to recruit Volunteer Community Buddies.

Staffordshire Day is back on Wednesday 1st May 2019 and there are loads of ways to get involved!

Organisers Enjoy Staffordshire are looking for events on the theme of ‘Made in Staffordshire’ – could you organise something which celebrates Staffordshire products, food & drink, music, film, people or anything else which could be made in the county?

New for 2019 is the Great Big Staffordshire Quiz, a quiz based on our amazing county which could be hosted by a pub, school, charity or community group. A great way of raising funds for your organisation!

Farewell to Barry Halls

I spent some time out of the office last week, at our National Conference convened by NAVCA. Amongst the great line up of speakers was Baroness Tina Stowell, Chair of the Charity Commission. I have to acknowledge there were warm words about small charities and our support roles as CVSs.
