Community Business Programme & Grant

Applications are now open for the Community Business Trade Up Programme, run by the School for Social Entrepreneurs in partnership with Power to Change

Community businesses across England can now apply for a learning programme and a grant matched to their earnings of up to £10,000, to support their growth and increase the difference they make to their local area. The programme is free to attend.

Volunteer Centre Appointments coming to Uttoxeter

Support Staffordshire will be starting to offer Volunteer Centre appointments in the community in Uttoxeter, from February 2019. We will offer a free, friendly and confidential face to face and telephone service - helping individuals to find opportunities that suit their lifestyle and interests.

Support Staffordshire, a charity in Cannock Chase received a grant of £642, which will go towards funding weekly volunteer centres in Cannock Library. The volunteer centre bureau gives local residents an opportunity to discover a new volunteer opportunity with local groups and charities, which would help to increase skills, develop opportunities, meet likeminded people and do something good for the local community.

Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ready to rise to NHS 10-year challenge

Together We’re Better, the Sustainability and Transformation Partnership for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, has today committed to delivering the new NHS Long Term Plan.

The Plan was launched today. It sets out how the NHS needs to transform to provide high quality health and care services for the 2020s and beyond.

Many of the key themes of the plan are already being developed here in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

Low priority prescribing consultation events

NHS England is holding five national events to get views from patients and the public on items which should not routinely be prescribed in primary care. Two of the events are online on 14 January and 14 February and the other three events are being held in Leeds on 22 January, London on 5 February, and Birmingham on 11 February. These events are open to all.

Seating available for FREE

If any group is interested in some cinema style fixed seating, there is some available for free at The Guildhall in Newcastle. The seats would need to be picked up, at the very latest during the week beginning 21st January. The seating comprises of 4 sets of 4 chairs, fixed in a row and one set of 2 chairs, covered in grey cloth. (See photo)

Funding Boost for ‘Green’ Community Projects in Lichfield and Cannock Districts

Southern Staffordshire Community Energy (SSCE) Community Fund

Grants up to £2,000 for energy saving, energy audits and general environmental work undertaken by community groups in Lichfield and Cannock Chase districts

Closing date: 15th February 2019

Grants can be made for contribution to the total cost of a project or to fund the whole project. Projectsust start after the 1 March and be completed by the 31 December 2019

Save the Date - Next Local VCSE Forums

We know from feedback we receive that one of the most popular benefits of being a member of Support Staffordshire is the opportunity to network with other local charities and community groups in the locality at our qualrtley Local Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Forums.  Although open to anyone interested in the sector they are primarily attended by our members and an excellent way to find out what's happening in the area as well as make useful connections.
