Support Staffordshire East Staffs' Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning - Friday 25th September 2015

Support Staffordshire East Staffs are hosting a Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning on Friday 25th September 2015 from 10.30am at the Voluntary Services Centre, Union Street, Burton. The event will be outside if the weather is kind to us!

Lichfield Duty Officer’s Team Day

At a recent celebration of volunteering event hosted by Lichfield Volunteer Centre Andrea Phillips, Volunteer Officer from Shugborough Hall attended and in return invited Joy Biddell, Locality Officer for Lichfield and her team of Volunteer Duty Officers to Shugborough Hall to find out more about the hall and the volunteer roles that are available for prospective volunteers.

The invitation was open to all of Lichfield’s Volunteer Duty Officers and so we made it a ‘team day’ and included lunch as part of the visit.

Lichfield Re:Cycle - volunteer opportunities & request for recyclable bikes

Lichfield Re:Cycle is a local voluntary group that helps people to enjoy the benefits of cycling and encourages participation through a variety of services. They offer bikes on free long term loan, hold skill sharing demonstrations to show people how to maintain their own bike and work with people to build their confidence riding on the road, in groups or as an individuals. They recently helped a local family with five of their loan bikes to enable them to cycle together. Finding the right bike for the right person and for as long as they need it, is an important part of the process.

Volunteering opportunities for Keele University students

Keele University Student Union are trying to source volunteering opportunities for their students so that they can get involved in the local community and give something back through their ‘Keele Makes a Difference’ days. These are days they organise once a month for a group of students, for them to do a day of volunteering to make a big difference in a short space of time.

WITNESS SERVICE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The Citizens Advice Witness Service in Staffordshire is urgently looking for new people to join its team of specially trained volunteers supporting victims and witnesses in Staffordshire's courts.

There are currently about ten volunteering opportunities on offer at five courts - Stafford Crown and Hanley Crown as well as Cannock and Burton Magistrates, and the North Staffordshire Justice Centre.

Demand is often high for these roles and people interested in volunteering should contact the Witness Service as soon as possible.

The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice (Stoke-on-Trent) open day for volunteers - 19 September 2015

The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice in Stoke-on-Trent are holding an Open Day for volunteers on Saturday the 19th September from 10-12pm.

The Hospice provides care and support services for children who have shortened life expectancy or those who due to illness or injury have a life threatening or life limiting condition.
