A Letter of Appreciation and Thanks to all Volunteers from the President and members of the Rotary Club of Stafford Knot

Thu 7 May 2020

On behalf of Rotary and the people of Staffordshire we offer a massive thank you for your kind hearted voluntary work in connection with the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Your kind efforts will be remembered by many people for many years!

Over recent weeks you will have enjoyed just giving something back to the local community.

And now, having found how enjoyable and rewarding voluntary work can be we can offer you an opportunity to continue with your worthwhile service to the local community.

Rotary members include men and women from all areas of society and all over the world, 1.2 million members in over 35,000 clubs.  They are people of action, ready to turn their ideas and vision into lasting change by creating opportunities, supporting those who need it most and transforming their lives.

We are active in helping to address issues arising from the Covid pandemic and to 16th April contributed in excess of $3.5m in grants to support those affected.  Locally our work includes support to hospices, food banks, provision of face visors and other PPE to those in our healthcare services.  As an example one of the Stafford clubs supports Women’s Aid, Katharine House Hospice and puts on a very popular pensioners Christmas party funded by local small businesses. In these days of cut-backs it is the voluntary sector, through people just like you , that picks up the slack, and Rotary is just a part of that.

Having discovered the pleasure in supporting the local community in this current crisis we hope you may wish to continue to enjoy the experience and work with other like minded people.  Through this crisis, society is changing, becoming more caring.  You are already a valued part of that.

We invite you to visit www.rotarygbi.org to see the opportunities to get involved and find a local club.  You could also, with a group of friends, start you own club, even an E club.  This crisis has necessarily seen an increase in on-line zoom meetings. You could also email Les Goodchild at les.goodchild@gmail.com Les is our very enthusiastic District membership officer and he’d be delighted to hear from you.

Thank you very much again
