Asist needs volunteer advocates to make a difference to the lives of people with long term health conditions, disabilities and/or mental health needs throughout Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.



Advocates work alongside people, supporting them to speak out so that they have an equal voice in the choices and decisions that affect their lives. Advocates work with people in a variety of settings within the community including care homes, day centres, hospitals and their own homes.

Feedback on and help shape our CAMHS service

The current contract for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in South Staffordshire, delivered by Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT), is being refreshed.

We are contacting current and former users of their service and their families, as well as organisations that provide support to them. We are also interested to hear the views of stakeholders such as yourself.

What are we asking about?

An online survey has been created to enable people to share their views on the current service and to suggest ways it could be improved.

A Volunteer Case Study.

Sean came to Support Staffordshire at the beginning of the New Year, looking for a voluntary position, he had been out of work for a while due to ill health, but felt he was well enough to volunteer for a few hours a week.

Sean has a passion and drive to volunteer in a first response organisation, and eventually sees himself working for an emergency first response team, for example the paramedics or as an ambulance driver.

As we approach the anniversary of the first Covid lockdown and reflect on the past 12 months, it is an opportunity to look back on all that we have achieved.

This has clearly been an intense and challenging time for us all. Many people have lost their lives, others have lost their livelihoods, and I want to extend my condolences to all those who have been affected in some way.

I would also like to recognise all those who have stepped up to support the Covid response, which has demonstrated all that is good about our county.

In conjunction with Staffordshire’s district & borough councils, Staffordshire County Council has launched a fund to help support Small to Medium businesses (SMEs), that are located within Staffordshire.

Staffordshire County Council has pooled extra investment with the funding district and borough councils have received from government, called the ‘Additional Restrictions Grant, to reach more businesses who need it.
