The Gamesys Foundation

The main focus of the Gamesys Foundation is to preserve and protect the wellbeing of individuals suffering from mental health issues.  We do that through providing grants and funding to organisations who care for these individuals directly, as well as those who focus on research in the mental health field.

Gamesys Foundation will predominantly fund registered charities and NGOs. Should you choose to apply on behalf of an organisation, you will be asked for evidence of registration to verify the organisation's status.

Last month I promised to give you an update on our Team Staffordshire meeting with MPs which finally happened on 29 September. You can view our follow up letter here which outlines our proposed next steps. We had good discussions with those MPs in attendance, particularly Theo Clarke (MP for Stafford) and Jo Gideon (MP for Stoke Central)  as well as the convening MP, Aaron Bell (MP for Newcastle-under-Lyme). Jonathan Gullis (MP for Stoke North & Kidsgrove) also attended the meeting.

Covid-19 Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Sector Impact Survey - October 2020

When we first took a snapshot survey of the VCSE response to Covid in May we were pleased to report that 2/3 of the sector remained open and many of you had seen a huge surge in demand for your services. The picture a few months on isn’t so positive, with almost half of responders saying that services are now closed, mothballed or reduced in general.

Extent of rural economic and social benefits from village and community halls revealed

Village and community halls in England offer extensive economic and social benefits to rural communities, a report from ACRE has revealed.

Just before lockdown 2,109 halls took part in the National Village Halls Survey 2020 which provides a detailed snapshot of the operations and management of community buildings across the country.

The survey found that village halls make a significant contribution to the economy.

New £200k fund for community groups launches

Dozens of groups and organisations working with vulnerable communities in Staffordshire are set to benefit from a new county council fund launched today (Monday 12 October 2020).

The £200k #DoingOurBit Community Grants Scheme is now open for applications from groups who work with and support vulnerable communities, particularly older residents and families.

It’s Autumn, the leaves are changing, acorns are falling and spiders are seeking sanctuary in our houses - well trying to!

It’s time for me to unearth my woolly hat, my wellies, and pack a spare pair of socks in my work bag. As Wildchild Officer, I will be in the Trent Valley landscape delivering fun, nature-themed events this October.

The Wildchild project is dedicated to providing events for families to engage with nature on their doorstep. These events provide great opportunities to learn about wildlife, be creative and work with natural materials.

Are you looking for office furniture or equipment?

Due to the impending sale of Mansell House in Lichfield, we currently have a surplus of items that we would like to offer out to the community for a small donation.  

We have too many items to list, but there are desks, filing cabinets and pedestal drawers a plenty.  We do also have some keyboards and monitors but these may require an adaptor for use with newer equipment. There are also bookcases and other cabinets.  

We also have lots of office equipment in terms of staplers, hole punches and the like.  Plenty of heaters and fans too.
