In mid-October ACRE released its much-anticipated Village Hall Survey Report. This provided key information on the state of village halls in England over the last 10 years, as well as highlighting the extensive social and economic benefits community buildings continue to provide.

Community hall committees have a duty of care to all users of their charitable premises.
Many village and community venues across Staffordshire provide a facility for a wide range of day care, other child-based activities and youth clubs. In addition there’s often an array of activities for adults such as lunch clubs, social groups and many other sporting or leisure activities. There is a duty of care to ensure that good safeguarding practice is considered for all users of the community premises.

In September and October 2019 Staffordshire County Council spoke with lots of people living with autism as well as their families and carers about what was important to them and what they want to achieve – we refer to this as ‘outcomes’. Following this engagement, Staffordshire County Council has worked alongside Staffordshire Clinical Commissioning Groups to jointly produce a plan of actions to deliver these outcomes.

NHS Here for You – working differently to stay safe
From early December, NHS 111 will be able to directly book patients into time slots for Emergency Departments (EDs) and Same Day Urgent Care, when clinically appropriate. We’re working at pace to deliver this in line with the national ambition of December 2020 for all trusts.

#TalkSuicide is a new campaign, developed by Staffordshire County Council working in partnership with Stoke-on-Trent City Council, local hospitals and NHS community services.
The campaign aims to bring individuals, organisations and businesses together to help prevent suicide in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
We believe by bringing people together, the small things we all do can make a BIG difference.

It is my privilege as Independent Chair to write the foreword to this Annual Report of the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Adult Safeguarding Partnership Board.
As the Independent Chair, my role is to lead collaboratively, give advice, support and encouragement but also to offer constructive challenge and hold main partner agencies to account. I also ensure that interfaces with other strategic functions are effective. As an Independent Chair, I can provide additional assurance that the Board has some independence from the local authorities and connected partners.
