Grant Scheme for Community Building Energy Improvements

Southern Staffordshire Community Energy (SSCE) has set up a Community Fund from their surplus in the financial year 2014/15.

Southern Staffordshire Community Energy (SSCE) has set up a Community Fund from their surplus in the financial year 2014/15.

The Board of SSCE has agreed that this Community Fund will be utilised to improve the energy efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint of community buildings in Lichfield District. Applications for funding are invited from the owners or leaseholders of community buildings in Lichfield District.

Eligible Measures

The grants will be provided either:

  1. for energy audits for the buildings OR
  2. for measures which will contribute to improving the energy efficiency or to the installation of renewable energy measures (max £1000)

The maximum grant which will be awarded for measures is £1000. The SSCE Community Fund grant can cover the whole project if it is less or equal to £1000 or can be a contribution towards a larger project.

For applicants who successfully apply for an energy audit, SSCE will commission and pay for that on behalf of the successful applicants for that element.

The kinds of energy efficiency measures that would be considered include:-

  • Cavity wall insulation
  • External or internal solid wall insulation
  • Roof insulation
  • Floor insulation
  • Energy efficient lighting
  • Draught-proofing
  • Double-glazing or secondary glazing
  • Improved heating and/or lighting controls
  • Energy efficient boilers

The types of renewable energy installation that would be considered include:-

  • Solar thermal panels for water heating
  • Solar photovoltaic panels for electricity generation
  • Ground or air source heat pumps
  • Biomass boilers
  • Small wind turbines

Submission of Application

Applicants must complete the attached form and return to the address below by Saturday the 31 October 2015.

Applications will be assessed during November and applicants will be notified of the panel’s decision by 14 December 2015 at the latest.

An SSCE assessor may wish to visit buildings for which applications are submitted.
