The Fundraising Preference Service (FPS) is a new website-based service which has just been launched.

By entering your details on the Fundraising Preference Service website, you can choose to stop email, telephone calls, addressed post and/or text messages directed to you personally from a selected charity or charities.

Rebuilding public trust in fundraising

A cross-party review  into the self-regulation of charity fundraising took place in Summer 2015 taking evidence from key stakeholders in order to identify what changes were required to rebuild public trust in fundraising by charities.

A key frustration identified by members of the public was a lack of control over the nature and frequency of fundraising approaches. The review identified a need for a service to help individuals manage their communications with charities more easily.

A working group was set up in December 2015 to discuss and develop the details of the service, followed by a consultation in Autumn 2016.

The new system will ensure that people can easily manage the communications they receive from charities. Maybe you prefer not to be contacted by a particular charity or you know of a vulnerable person who would benefit from this service. Find out more
