COVID-19 and Weight Management Survey

The Obesity and Healthy Weight Team in the Diet Obesity and Physical Activity division in Public Health England are looking at people’s experiences with weight management services during the Covid-19 incident.

They are collaborating with Leeds Beckett University, University College London and Leeds University to explore the effects of Covid-19 on young people and adult tier 2 and 3 weight management services (WMS) across England. The survey will take about 18 minutes to complete. Choose the survey for your target group:

Support if you or a friend has been bereaved: somewhere to turn when someone has died

We can provide a confidential listening ear, reassurance, advice and support to anyone who has been bereaved in the Cannock, Lichfield, Tamworth and Rugeley areas. To access this support, just call 01543 433479 and leave a message. Please note that this number is a voicemail only. Make sure you provide your name, address and phone number. An experienced volunteer will call you back, normally within 36 hours, to start the process of helping you.

Easy search for health and wellbeing apps

It is more important than ever to use digital health solutions to support our most vulnerable.  To aid this Staffordshire County Council has recently procured a digital tool from the Organisation for the Review of Care and Health Apps (ORCHA) to make it easier for people to find good quality apps across different conditions and behaviours.

You can use the search to find top rated apps across different areas, such as stopping smoking, improving your mental wellbeing, keeping active and managing health conditions.

Staffordshire’s Archive and Heritage Services to begin phased reopening

Staffordshire’s record office is preparing to reopen to the public from Tuesday 14 July.

The office, on Eastgate Street in Stafford will be open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for two weeks and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for a further two weeks, before resuming normal opening times from 11 August.  Saturday opening will commence from 22 August reverting back to one per month.

PPE 4 Community - Update

PPE 4 Community a community interest company in Stoke-On-Trent was awarded funding by The Community Foundation for Staffordshire in June 2020 to donate PPE items to elderly care homes in the region.

The project was inspired by an article in the Sentinel in April about the care home manager at Safe Harbor who stated that at the time PPE Items were in high demand and short supply to his care homes. This message was repeated by many elderly care homes in the region.

Ashbourne Community Transport - WE NEED NEW TRUSTEES – CAN YOU HELP?

Ashbourne Community Transport (ACT) is a charity traditionally providing transport services for those unable to use or access normal public transport because of disability, age-related mobility issues or because, increasingly, no such services exist, such e.g. across Derbyshire and Staffordshire’s many rural areas.

We currently provide services in High Peak, Derbyshire Dales, Staffordshire Moorlands, South Derbyshire, East Staffordshire and parts of Amber Valley.
